Bunches

Student work- Packaging

Fall 2019

The hair accessory aisle is overwhelming, unclear, and unorganized. Most of the hair accessories come on a cardboard sleeve, almost all of the sleeves being the same color. The hair accessory brand Bunches changes the typical shopping experience. Bunches uses metal tins to store hair accessories. Inspired by Altoids, the tins are meant to be portable, serve as storage, and be reusable. The packaging uses a system of color, pattern, and pattern weight to distinguish between hair color, accessory type, and accessory size.

Packaging

The packaging uses a system that helps customers find their desired products. Hair color is differentiated by tin color. Each type of accessory has a specific pattern meant to mimic the shape of the accessory and the weight of the pattern varies depending on the size of the accessory. In stores, the products would be shelved according to color. This way, shoppers could easily find the hair color they want and would be more likely to buy multiple accessories in their section. This would be vastly different than the current aisle of hair accessories, which does not have a clear system of shelving.
